Image and video processing
Halation performs all colour grading locally, in your browser, using WebGL. When you choose a photograph or a video file, the editor reads it on your device. The editor does not upload your media to a server. Video is decoded, graded and re-encoded locally using your browser's codecs; audio processing also stays on your device. Exports use your browser's download mechanism. The original file and any downloaded exports remain on your device; the site does not keep an online copy or save an editing session for you.
You can inspect this behaviour in your browser's Network panel while opening, grading and exporting a file. Requests for site resources, sample photographs and analytics are separate from your selected media. If you choose to email a file for support, that file leaves your device through your email service.
Information we collect
There is no login or account database. The editor does not ask for your name or email address, and it does not send the contents of your media to analytics. Visiting the website still involves network requests to the hosting provider. If you contact Halation by email, the support mailbox receives your sender address, message and any attachments you include.
Third-party services
- Hosting and security. Cloudflare serves the site's static files and processes connection information such as IP address, browser user agent, requested URL and request time to deliver and protect the website. It may retain service and security logs under its own privacy policy. This network information is separate from the media opened in the editor.
- Analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics reports aggregate page visits, referring sites, browser and device categories, country and page performance. Its analytics beacon does not use cookies or track visitors across sites. It receives page and performance information, not your editor media. - Fonts. Typefaces are served from this site's own domain, without a separate font CDN. The Cloudflare services above still handle site requests.
- Video export library. Video export uses Mediabunny, an open-source library. A copy of it is served from this site's own domain and is loaded when you export a clip. The export reads and processes your media locally; it does not send it to the library's publisher.
- Support email. Messages you voluntarily send to [email protected] are stored in the support mailbox so the issue can be answered and followed up. Email is handled by email providers and is separate from the editor. Send the minimum information needed, and avoid private media or sensitive personal details.
- Advertising. Halation does not currently run advertising scripts or advertising cookies. Before advertising services are enabled, this policy and any required consent controls need to reflect those services.
Questions and personal information requests
Contact [email protected] about personal information you have sent to Halation, including a request to access, correct or delete support correspondence. Include enough context to locate the message. The editor has no uploaded-media archive to retrieve or delete. Cloudflare's handling of connection information is described in its policy linked above.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the support mailbox, contact us so it can be reviewed.
